Updates and Timeline

Maurice’s 3rd Community Meeting is on April 2, 2025, 6 pm at the Wellfleet Elementary School. Join Us!

The Town of Wellfleet is hosting the third community meeting on the proposed housing options for Maurice’s Campground, and all community members are encouraged to attend. The meeting will allow the public to engage with the evolving plans for the Maurice’s Campground.

This is a unique opportunity for the community to directly influence the future of Maurice’s Campground and contribute to addressing affordable housing needs in Wellfleet. The public’s voice is crucial as we move toward finalizing a plan that reflects our shared values and vision for the town. Wellfleet Town Officials and project planners strongly encourage residents, business owners, and all stakeholders to attend and provide feedback that will help shape the future of this important development.

Pizza will be served.

Meeting in a Box

The Wellfleet Maurice’s Campground Master Plan Steering Committee launched the Meeting-in-a-Box (MIAB) engagement tool in June 2024 and collected submissions until September 9, 2024. A total of 26 MIABs were held, reaching 138 participants. This document summarizes the main themes discussed at these sessions. MIAB is a civic engagement method in which community members are invited to host meetings with their friends, families, networks, and neighbors to share their ideas for Maurice’s Campground’s future. The project team developed a facilitation guide that took participants through seven activities to foster discussion and feedback regarding the Master Plan. Facilitators could customize their discussions to focus on the group's main interests and were welcome to complete any number (or all!) of the activities.

Here’s how the story began…

Beginning in 2022 and continuing through 2028, our dedicated committee members will be generously donating their time to facilitate a series of group meetings and community engagement. Our aim is to host as many as we can to enrich the planning process. We’re eager to connect with a diverse range of individuals, each bringing their unique experiences and viewpoints to the table. Our goal is to engage with as many voices as possible in this limited timeframe.

We’re excited to hear your thoughts and ideas. Thank you for your interest in the future of Maurice's Campground!
