Old Kings Highway

Habitat for Humanity Community Housing at 2254 Old Kings Highway, Wellfleet. Infrastructure is nearly complete, and this fall we will be raising the walls on four homes (two, 2-bedroom and two, 3-bedroom ranches) in this newly created rural outer-Cape neighborhood. At completion, the homes will be sold at affordable prices to those at 60-80% of AMI (area median income). Eligible purchasers have been identified through an application and lottery selection process.  The neighborhood abuts the National Seashore with easy access to all it offers. Both fresh and saltwater beaches are within biking distance. The site is just a short drive to downtown Wellfleet. The homes will be energy-efficient and solar-equipped. Special care was taken to conserve natural forest duff which was spread and replanted at the subdivision entry. In keeping with surrounding homes, and the pine land eco-system, there will be natural Cape Cod lawns and native plant landscapes.

Wellfleet’s 2023 Housing Production Plan

A Housing Production Plan is a community's proactive strategy for planning and developing affordable housing by creating a strategy to meet its affordable housing needs. The Town of Wellfleet's Affordable Housing group including the Affordable Housing Trust, the Local Housing Partnership and the Housing Authority, has worked collaboratively with JM Goldson to collect data, understand local housing conditions and needs, and develop strategies that will meet the needs of our year-round community today and in the future.

The 2023 Housing Production Plan highlight Wellfleet's demographics, median income, home prices both for sale and rent, and identifies both short and long-term housing needs. The strategic five-year plan for the production of affordable and mixed-income housing was a culmination of interviews and focus groups that also includes the Town Assistant Administrator, the Director of Community Services and key stakeholders involved in the production, preservation, planning, and zoning aspects of housing development in the Town of Wellfleet.

Wellfleet's 2023 Housing Production Plan was presented and approved by the Select Board and the Planning Board on March 21, 2023.
